Adam Obert to Lens

Quiet since 17 August 2026. Last report: Gianluca Di Marzio. Probability when it went quiet: 4%.

Lens want Adam Obert, and Cagliari have made it plain the answer is no. The Slovakia defender, 23, is tied to Cagliari until 30 June 2030, and the Italian club insist he is not for sale. Lens tested that stance with an €8m offer. It was rejected, and as things stand there is no sign of a compromise on either the fee or the principle of the sale. The report comes from Gianluca Di Marzio, one of the most trusted voices on Italian transfer business. His word carries real weight, so the €8m bid and its rejection can be taken as solid. But note what he actually said: Obert is not on the market, and Cagliari turned Lens down flat. This is a single credible link describing a knock-back, not a deal edging forward. Right now this is a long shot. Cagliari hold all the cards through a contract running to 2030, and they have shown no willingness to negotiate. For it to move, Lens would need to return with something well beyond €8m, into the €8m to €11m range being talked about, and Cagliari would have to soften a position they have stated publicly. Neither looks close. Lens have paid this kind of money before. They took Augsburg's man for €8m in 2021, signed a Charleroi player for €8m in 2026, and paid Udinese €9m. The fee on the table fits their usual bracket, so the price is not the obstacle. Cagliari's refusal is. Watch for a fresh Lens bid nearer €11m, and any hint that Cagliari's stance is shifting.
