Alen Halilovic to Persepolis

Quiet since 18 July 2026. Last report: Fabrizio Romano. Probability when it went quiet: 14%.

Alen Halilovic is a free agent after leaving Fortuna Sittard, and the talk now is of a move to Persepolis. The 30 year old Croatian, once of Barcelona, has no club to his name since his Eredivisie exit, and his contract situation means any deal would cost only wages, not a fee. The framing from the latest reporting is that talks are already under way, with the move described as advancing rather than a distant idea. The story rests on a single but significant voice. Fabrizio Romano, whose track record on breaking these stories carries real weight, posted that Halilovic is close to signing with Persepolis and that negotiations are advancing. No second source has yet corroborated the claim, so this sits as a strong lead rather than a confirmed fact, and that matters when judging how solid it really is. The chance here is best described as a long shot for now. A move like this needs the player to agree terms, pass whatever formalities are required for a free transfer, and have both sides commit publicly, none of which has happened yet. Until there is second sourcing or an official statement, this stays firmly in rumour territory, even with a credible name attached to it. Fortuna Sittard's recent sales give some context for the club's business, including deals sending players to Hellas Verona for €3m, to Millwall for €3m in 2022, and to Hull City for €2m. Halilovic's free transfer situation, though, sits apart from those fee based departures. Watch for a second reliable source, any confirmation from Persepolis itself, or news of the player travelling for a medical. Any of those
