Alexander Machado to Banfield

Banfield have moved to add Alexander Machado, the 24-year-old Uruguayan attacker, with Peñarol willing to let him go on loan rather than sell outright. The two sources differ slightly on structure, one says a one-year loan with a purchase option, the other a free loan with a $1.5m option, but both agree the framework is a loan now and a decision on a permanent deal later. Machado arrives having just come from a spell at Defensor Sporting, and Peñarol retain his registration throughout. Cesar Luis Merlo, rated highly credible at 81, broke the story and frames it as done from Banfield's side. German Garcia Grova, a solid but slightly less heavyweight voice at 72, corroborates the substance within the same day, though his figure for the option differs from Merlo's account. Two separate posts landing together on the same date gives this more weight than a single unconfirmed link, even with the discrepancy over terms. This sits finely balanced rather than close to confirmed. The clubs appear aligned on the broad shape of a loan with an option, which is the easier part of any deal to agree. What still needs nailing down is the exact figure and structure of that option, given the sources do not fully match.
