Alexis Cuello to Rubin Kazán

This move fell through. Last report: Cesar Luis Merlo, 31 August 2026.

The proposed move of Alexis Cuello from San Lorenzo to Rubin Kazán has fallen through. Rubin Kazán opened talks in late August and lodged a formal bid, but San Lorenzo turned it down and the deal has since collapsed. The sticking point was the player himself: San Lorenzo were open to negotiating, yet Cuello was not convinced about the destination. At 26, the Argentine attacker is under contract until the end of 2027 and carries a market value of around €5m, with the fee discussed sitting in the €2m to €4m range. The reporting here is solid. Cesar Luis Merlo, one of the more reliable voices on Argentine business, broke both the opening of talks and the collapse. German Garcia Grova, also credible, confirmed the rejected formal bid in between. Two trusted names telling a consistent story gives this real weight. As things stand, this is a long shot. The bid was rejected, the player was reluctant, and the deal is described as collapsed. For it to revive, Rubin Kazán would need to return with an improved offer and Cuello would need a change of heart. Neither looks close. A rival link to Sporting Gijón currently carries more heft than any renewed push from Rubin Kazán. San Lorenzo have shown they can sell at this level: they banked €4m from the Elche CF deal in 2022, and another €4m in the Al-Hilal sale. A €2m to €4m fee here would sit comfortably within that history. Watch for a fresh, improved bid from Rubin Kazán, or firmer movement from Sporting Gijón, which would settle Cuello's summer.
