Alexis Cuello to Sporting Gijón

Quiet since 4 August 2026. Last report: German Garcia Grova. Probability when it went quiet: 8%.

Sporting Gijón have put a formal offer on the table for Alexis Cuello, the 26-year-old Argentine attacker at San Lorenzo. The bid is worth €2.5m plus add-ons, structured around a percentage of the player, and talks are live. What matters is that San Lorenzo have not accepted, and this is not a two-horse race: Monterrey remain firmly in the picture, which changes the whole shape of the negotiation. Cuello is under contract until the end of 2027, so San Lorenzo hold the leverage on price. The report comes from German Garcia Grova, who broke the exclusive on 4 August 2026. He is a solid, credible voice on Argentine business, and he has been specific about the numbers rather than vague. The catch is that this is a single link. No second reporter has corroborated it yet, so the sourcing is genuine but thin. This one is against the odds as things stand. Sporting's money is real and the fee under discussion, €2m to €4m, sits below the roughly €5m valuation, which gives San Lorenzo a reason to hold firm. For it to complete, Sporting need to raise the guaranteed portion and, crucially, see off Monterrey, who currently look the stronger pull. The fee fits Sporting's usual level. They paid €4m to sign a player from Man City and €2m to bring one from Basel in 2025, so €2.5m is squarely in keeping with how they operate. Watch for San Lorenzo's response to the bid, any improved offer, and whether Monterrey table something concrete.
