Andrej Bacanin to Toulouse

Quiet since 11 July 2026. Last report: Santi Aouna. Probability when it went quiet: 5%.

Toulouse have made their first contacts over Andrej Bacanin, the 19-year-old Serbia midfielder currently at Basel. The Ligue 1 side appear to be pivoting: reporting suggests their pursuit of Matias Siltanen has stalled because the two clubs cannot agree terms, and Bacanin has emerged as an alternative. A fee somewhere between €4m and €5m is in the frame, roughly in line with his market value of around €4m. This is early-stage groundwork rather than an advanced negotiation, and Bacanin is tied to Basel until June 2030, which hands the Swiss club all the leverage. The story comes from Santi Aouna, a fairly reliable voice, marked out as an exclusive. That is a single credible source rather than something corroborated across several reporters, so treat it as a genuine but thin thread for now. Honestly, this looks a long shot. First contacts are a long way from a bid, and a player under contract for five more years is not one Basel need to sell. For it to move, Toulouse would have to firm up interest into a formal offer and Basel would have to be tempted at a price close to what Bacanin cost them. Neither has happened yet. The numbers do fit the buyer's pattern. Toulouse paid Standard Liège €5m in 2023, Leeds €5m in 2024, Malmö €4m in 2022 and Göztepe €4m in 2025. A €4m to €5m outlay here would sit comfortably inside that range. Basel themselves signed Bacanin from Cukaricki for €2m in 2025. Watch for whether the Siltanen deal collapses fully, and whether Toulouse's contacts harden into an actual bid.
