Antonio Candela to Catanzaro

Quiet since 22 July 2026. Last report: Gianluca Di Marzio. Probability when it went quiet: 79%.

Catanzaro have moved decisively for Antonio Candela, and the deal is all but wrapped up. The 26-year-old Italian defender, contracted at Venezia until June 2028, is set to join on loan with an option to buy. It is the sort of low-risk arrangement that lets a Coppa Italia side add a proven Serie A body without committing a fee up front, and by every recent account the framework is already agreed. The report comes from Gianluca Di Marzio, one of the benchmark voices on Italian transfers. His word carries real weight, and he is explicit: "è fatta", it's done, a loan with an option to buy. That is a single source, but a strong one, and the language leaves little room for doubt. This one is very likely. A loan-plus-option keeps the money manageable for Catanzaro and the risk contained for Venezia, which is exactly why these deals tend to glide through once the structure is set. What remains is the routine paperwork rather than any obstacle over valuation. Barring a late snag, expect completion soon. Catanzaro have shopped in this market before. They took a player from LR Vicenza and another from Benevento, both at no fee, so a low-cost loan with an option fits their pattern neatly. Venezia, meanwhile, are used to selling on, having banked €20m from Sporting in 2026 and €8m from Sassuolo in 2025. This move sits comfortably inside those habits. The next trigger is the formal announcement and a booked medical. Once Candela completes his checks and the loan terms are signed off, this becomes official.
