Baltasar Rodríguez to EDLP

This move fell through. Last report: cross-destination, 10 August 2026.

The proposed switch to EDLP has collapsed. According to the reporting, EDLP and Racing had agreed the transfer of of Baltasar Rodríguez's economic rights, a €4m arrangement that would have moved the 23-year-old Argentine midfielder. Then the paperwork went wrong. When the contracts were crossed, one party inserted a mandatory purchase obligation of a further, and the whole thing fell apart. Rodríguez, whose deal runs to the end of 2029, is reported to be angry at how it unravelled. The single source here is German Garcia Grova, who carries reasonable credibility at 71 out of 100. His account is detailed and specific about the sticking point, the extra obligation, but it stands alone for now. There is no corroboration from a second reliable voice, so the picture rests entirely on one report. This is a long shot, and the reporting itself explains why: the deal did not stall, it broke. For EDLP to revive it, the two clubs would need to unpick the clause that sank the talks and rebuild the structure of the rights split. Right now the far likelier outcome is that Rodríguez simply stays at Estudiantes. The €4m figure is entirely in keeping with how Estudiantes trade. They sold to Athletico-PR for €4m in 2024, banked another €4m from CD Maldonado back in 2014, and took €3m from Portland in 2022. The money was never the problem. Watch for whether the clubs return to the table with a cleaner contract, or whether Estudiantes now close the door and keep him.
