Bamba Dieng to Lazio

This move fell through. Last report: Sacha Tavolieri, 20 August 2026.

Bamba Dieng has landed at Rome's Fiumicino airport and is set to undergo his medical at Lazio on Thursday. The 26-year-old Senegalese striker is a free agent, his contract having expired, and Lazio want him as a direct replacement after a deal for Mauro Icardi collapsed. Personal terms are agreed: Sacha Tavolieri reports a three-year contract worth €1.5m per season with a €500,000 signing bonus. Only the medical and some administrative loose ends stand between Dieng and a confirmed move. The sourcing here is as strong as it gets. Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio, two of the most reliable voices in European football, both reported on 19 August that Dieng had agreed terms and was in Rome ahead of the medical. Marc Mechenoua, a credible Francophone reporter covering Ligue 1 and African football, had already flagged the move independently. All three sources align on the same detail at the same moment, which gives this considerable weight. With Dieng physically in Rome, personal terms sealed, and the medical booked for Thursday morning, this is very close to done. The qualifier is that a medical can still produce a surprise, and Mechenoua notes that administrative details were not fully resolved as of Wednesday. Those are narrow hurdles, but they exist. Barring an unexpected complication at the medical, this move looks almost certain to complete. Lazio's recent free-agent and cut-price recruitment provides useful context. The club paid €4m to bring a player from Marseille in 2025, so arriving at nothing for Dieng fits a clear pattern of smart, low-cost attacking reinforcem
