Cheikh Niasse to Norwich
Quiet since 22 June 2026. Last report: Alfredo Pedulla. Probability when it went quiet: 9%.
Hellas Verona midfielder Cheikh Niasse, 26, is being linked with a move to Norwich in the Championship, with talk of a €2m fee circulating after a reported approach. The Senegal international is under contract in Verona until June 2029, which gives the Serie A club every reason to sit tight and hold their price. Nothing beyond early-stage interest has been confirmed, and the story has not visibly advanced. The link rests entirely on a single exclusive from Alfredo Pedulla, posted on 22 June 2026. Pedulla is a respected Italian journalist with a solid track record, so the initial contact between the clubs is credible enough to take seriously. The problem is that his report is now over a month old, has not been picked up by anyone else, and there has been no update from either club's direction. This is a long shot for now. Verona hold all the leverage with that 2029 contract, and a €2m offer is unlikely to force their hand unless Niasse himself pushes to leave. A competing link to Rubin Kazan suggests his next destination is genuinely unsettled, which does not help Norwich's cause. Norwich have form paying around €3m to bring players in, as the signings from Man City U21, Sporting and Coventry all show. A €2m fee for Niasse would sit comfortably within that range, and his previous move from Young Boys to Verona for €4m in 2025 sets a ceiling that makes the reported figure realistic for a player Verona may want off the wage bill. Watch for a formal bid being lodged or Niasse dropping any public hint about wanting a move. Without either, this stays stuck at the rumour stage.
