Chrislain Matsima to Crystal Palace

This move fell through. Last report: Sacha Tavolieri, 29 July 2026.

Chrislain Matsima's move from Augsburg to Crystal Palace has fallen apart, at least for now, after a run of escalating numbers failed to produce a deal. The fee under discussion had climbed as high as €40m against a market value nearer €22m, and the gap between the two clubs never closed. Palace have been credited with interest for weeks, but the collapse marks a sharp turn from the advanced-talks framing that surrounded the deal only recently. The most recent claim of advanced discussions came from Ben Jacobs, whose track record carries reasonable weight in the transfer beat. He cited earlier reporting on talkSPORT as the origin of the story, which suggests two voices pointing the same direction rather than one isolated tip. Even so, the fee ledger shows repeated rejected bids before any reported agreement, and that pattern of push and rebuff is exactly the kind of thing that precedes a collapse rather than a close. With the move now described as collapsed, the chance of it being revived looks slim. For this to come back to life, Augsburg would need to soften their valuation or Palace would need to move well beyond their previous offers, and neither side has shown signs of budging. It sits as a long shot for now, not dead forever, but a very long way from done. Matsima's only prior transfer of note came when he joined Augsburg from Monaco for €5m in 2025, a modest fee that makes the €25m to €40m range now being discussed feel like a huge jump for a player who hasn't commanded that kind of money before. Palace, by contrast, have paid similar or larger fees before, including
