Darwin Núñez to Atlanta United

This move fell through. Last report: SPORTbible, 3 August 2026.

Atlanta United have made an €18m bid for Darwin Núñez, the 27-year-old Uruguay international currently at Al Hilal, and early talks are under way over a move to Major League Soccer. Besiktas also have a live interest, which could complicate Atlanta's approach or accelerate it, depending on how Al Hilal read their leverage. Núñez's career fees tell a consistent upward story: Peñarol sold him to UD Almería for €12m in 2019, Almería moved him to Benfica for €34m in 2020, and Benfica then sold him to Liverpool for €85m in 2022, before Liverpool sent him to Al Hilal for €53m in 2025. A move at €18m to €25m would represent a significant drop from those figures, reflecting both the destination market and his current Al Hilal valuation. The clearest next trigger is
