Diego Moreira to AS Roma

Quiet since 18 July 2026. Last report: Sacha Tavolieri. Probability when it went quiet: 1%.

AS Roma have made a first move for Diego Moreira, the 21-year-old Belgian midfielder currently at Strasbourg. Roma's opening bid stands at €25m plus a ten-per-cent sell-on clause, according to the latest reporting, while Strasbourg are holding out for closer to €30m. The player is under contract until June 2029, which gives the French club every reason to sit firm. The story rests entirely on Gianluca Di Marzio, one of Italian football's most reliable insiders on Roma dealings. There is no corroboration from a second source yet, so treat this as well-sourced but singular for now. For all Di Marzio's credibility, this is a long shot at present. The gap between Roma's offer and Strasbourg's asking price is real, and Strasbourg have no financial pressure forcing a quick sale. The sell-on clause softens Roma's cash outlay but may not be enough to bridge the divide. Until the clubs close that gap, completion looks unlikely. Strasbourg's recent sales give useful context. They sold one player to Nott'm Forest for €35m in 2025 and another to Sunderland for €32m the same year, so a fee in the mid-to-high twenties is entirely in keeping with how the club values its assets. Roma's current offer falls short of that benchmark. The clearest trigger to watch is whether Roma return with an improved bid, either by raising the cash figure above €30m or restructuring the sell-on terms. A second source picking up the story would also signal genuine momentum.
