Edson Álvarez to Valencia

Quiet since 17 October 2026. Last report: AS (via Yahoo Sports/The72). Probability when it went quiet: 19%.

Earlier read, written at an earlier stage of this story: Edson Álvarez looks increasingly likely to leave West Ham in January, and the early movement is coming from his representatives rather than the clubs. His agent has spent this week in meetings, and at least one of those involved a La Liga side understood to be Valencia. The framework under discussion is a loan, not a permanent fee, which fits a player whose contract runs to June 2028 with a club option attached. For now this is positioning, not negotiation between the two clubs. The sourcing is thin. This rests on a single report of middling reliability, flagging the agent's meetings and a January move on the agenda. There is no benchmark reporter attached, no corroboration from a second voice, and no quotes from either club. Treat it as a genuine lead rather than a settled story. As things stand, this is a long shot. A loan keeps the barrier low, which helps, but almost everything still has to fall into place: West Ham sanctioning a departure in the middle of their season, Valencia committing to the wages, and the two clubs agreeing terms that so far nobody has even opened. The agent wanting it done is not the same as it being done. Valencia have shopped at this price point before, taking players from Lyon for €15m in 2018 and Arsenal for €14m the same year. Álvarez himself cost West Ham €38m from Ajax in 2023, so a loan would be a very different kind of commitment. Watch for the first sign of club-to-club contact, or a Valencia source confirming genuine interest. Until then, this stays agent-led chatter.
