Exequiel Zeballos to Celta Vigo

Quiet since 10 August 2026. Last report: Fabrizio Romano. Probability when it went quiet: 1%.

Celta Vigo are readying an official bid for Exequiel Zeballos, the 24-year-old Boca Juniors attacker, with the offer expected to be forwarded this week. The fee under discussion sits at around €2m, well below the player's market value of roughly €7m. Boca, for their part, are pushing to get the sale done. There is a complication worth flagging: Napoli hold a verbal agreement with Zeballos on personal terms, though without the green light to actually proceed. So Celta are moving while a rival lurks. The story carries genuine weight. Fabrizio Romano, a benchmark reporter, has the Celta bid and the Napoli backdrop. Cesar Luis Merlo, a reliable voice on Argentine business, confirms Boca are accelerating the sale to Celta. Two trusted sources pointing the same way is about as solid as a rumour gets at this stage. Call it finely balanced. Celta have not yet lodged the bid, and the gap between their €2m and Zeballos's €7m valuation is real. For this to complete, Celta need to firm up an offer Boca will accept, and Zeballos has to choose Vigo over a Napoli move he already likes on personal terms. Plenty could still tip it either way. The money fits Boca's recent pattern of business. They sold to RCD Mallorca for €3m, to Club Tijuana for €2m, and to CA Talleres for €2m. A €2m fee here is squarely in keeping. Celta, too, know the market, having signed from Albacete in 2021. Watch for Celta's official bid landing this week. That is the trigger. Any firm move from Napoli would change everything fast.
