Flavio Russo to Catania
Quiet since 13 August 2026. Last report: Gianluca Di Marzio. Probability when it went quiet: 11%.
Flavio Russo is heading to Catania on loan from Sassuolo, and the move now looks all but confirmed at ground level even as the permanent side of the deal stays unresolved. The 21 year old Italian attacker has been training with his new side, with Coppa Italia football his likely destination for the season ahead. Sassuolo retain interest in his long term progress, but for now this is a loan story, not a sale. The key line comes from Gianluca Di Marzio, whose word carries serious weight in Italian football circles, credibility rated 89 out of 100. He posted plainly that it is fatta, done, for Russo's arrival at Catania on loan from Sassuolo. That single post is the only sourcing on record here, but given who it comes from, it counts for a great deal. There is no second voice corroborating it yet, so the story rests on one very strong pillar rather than several. The loan itself looks close to nailed on, backed by what Di Marzio has said and by confirmation that Russo is already at the club. Where things get shakier is any permanent transfer beyond that. A fee of around €1m has been floated, matching his market value, but nothing suggests Sassuolo have agreed to sell outright. Call the loan close to certain and the permanent futures a long shot for now. Catania have paid this kind of money before. They brought in a player from Wisla Kraków for €1m in 2014, and Sassuolo have sold for the same fee elsewhere, including a €1m deal with Cagliari in 2022. A €1m valuation for Russo sits comfortably within that range. Watch for official confirmation from Catania or Sassuolo of the loan
