Hugo Siquet to Rangers

This move fell through. Last report: Sacha Tavolieri, 11 August 2026.

Rangers want Hugo Siquet, and they moved for him. The Belgian right-back was the Scottish club's priority, and an initial bid, reported at €4m, went to Club Brugge. Brugge shut the door at once. The 24-year-old is under contract until June 2028 and is considered untouchable by the Belgian side, so despite Siquet himself wanting the switch, the deal has collapsed rather than merely stalled. Rangers were said to be ready to go well beyond their opening offer, but that willingness has not shifted Brugge's stance. The reporting is solid. Sacha Tavolieri broke the detail that Siquet is regarded as untouchable and that Brugge rejected Rangers immediately, and Santi Aouna corroborated the bid and named Siquet as the Scottish club's priority target. Both carry a credibility score of 79 out of 100, so this is two reliable voices telling the same story on the same day, not a thin single link. Realistically this is a long shot. For it to revive, Brugge would have to soften a position they have stated flatly, and no fee in the €4m to €5m range has tempted them yet. Siquet's own desire to join counts for little while the selling club refuses to engage. As things stand, the balance sits heavily against completion. History shows Rangers operate comfortably in this bracket. They paid €5m to Cremonese in 2023 and €5m to Nordsjaelland in 2024, and Siquet himself cost Brugge €3m from Freiburg. The money is in keeping. The willingness to sell is the missing piece. Watch for any sign Brugge reopen talks, or a fresh, higher bid that forces a rethink. Without that, this stays dead.
