Ian Subiabre to Midtjylland

Midtjylland's interest in Ian Subiabre has stalled almost before it started. The Danish club tabled an approach for the 19-year-old River attacker worth around £3.2m, and two things went wrong at once. Subiabre himself turned the move down, and River judged the bid too low, deeming the roughly $4m offer insufficient for a player under contract until the end of 2028. There has been no fresh movement on the fee since. Both the player and his club look cool on this route for now. The reporting comes from Diario Ole, a credible Argentine outlet, though this rests on a single link rather than a chorus of voices. Ole are clear that the player rejected the offer, while noting the deal is not officially dead. River remain open in principle to a permanent sale, and Subiabre is understood to be weighing better offers elsewhere. As it stands this is a long shot. A player who has already said no, and a selling club unhappy with the money, is a hard combination to reverse. For it to revive, Midtjylland would need to lift their bid well beyond the £3.2m already rejected, closer to the £4.5m being discussed at the top end, and change Subiabre's own mind. Neither has happened. Midtjylland have paid this bracket before. They spent £4m on Rubin Kazan in 2022 and £4m on Bologna in 2025, so the fee here sits squarely within their usual range for a signing. Watch for a raised bid that satisfies River, or any softening from the player. Rival interest, including a link with DC United, could also decide where Subiabre lands.
