Jayden Oosterwolde to Roma

This move fell through. Last report: Matteo Moretto, 27 August 2026.

Jayden Oosterwolde has landed in Rome. The 25-year-old Dutch defender touched down at Ciampino airport on 25 August 2026 and will sign for AS Roma on a loan deal that carries a buy obligation triggered at the twentieth appearance of 45 minutes or more. The agreed purchase figure sits at €15m, giving the total package a value around €15m once the loan fee is factored in. Fenerbahçe lose one of their starting defenders; Roma add left-sided cover with the player contracted until June 2028. The story was broken at speed by Gianluca Di Marzio, one of Italian football journalism's most reliable voices, who reported both the fee and the airport arrival. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the verbal agreement on 22 August, though his early figure of €17-18m has since settled at €15m in the final structure. Alfredo Pedullà and Angelo Mangiante, both strong sources on Roma business, corroborated the loan-to-buy mechanics. Four credible reporters, all consistent on the shape of the deal. This is all but done. Oosterwolde is physically in Rome, the club-to-club agreement is in place, the player has signed off on personal terms, and the buy obligation clause transforms what looks like a loan into a near-certain permanent move the moment he hits that appearance threshold. Nothing material stands in the way. Roma have repeatedly bought defenders in this price range. The club paid €13m for a signing from Barcelona in 2020 and €13m again in a deal from Palmeiras in 2021, so a €15m structure for a 25-year-old international fits comfortably within their established spending pattern at that position.
