Jens Cajuste to Genoa
Quiet since 9 July 2026. Last report: Alfredo Pedulla. Probability when it went quiet: 7%.
Genoa are back in for Jens Cajuste, the 26-year-old Napoli midfielder, but this is still firmly at the interest stage rather than anything approaching a deal. The player is under contract at Napoli until June 2028, with a club option attached, so Napoli hold the cards. The two sides have been discussing a fee somewhere between €7m and €10m, yet the sticking point is not the money alone. It is the formula of the deal, meaning whether this is a straight buy, a loan, or a loan with an obligation, that keeps the clubs apart. The reporting traces to a single source, Alfredo Pedulla, who is a solid and well-regarded voice. On 9 July he wrote that Genoa are trying again and that Cajuste remains a target for their midfield, with no agreement on the structure. Back on 24 June he noted that Genoa boss De Rossi likes the player a lot, but that other offers are in the picture. One reliable reporter, twice, is honest sourcing rather than a chorus. For now this is a long shot. Genoa clearly want him and the admiration from De Rossi is real, but no agreement on the formula and the presence of rival offers leave it well short. For it to move, the clubs must settle on a structure Napoli accept, and Genoa must fend off those competing suitors. Cajuste has moved for real fees before. Stade Reims sold him to Napoli for €12m in 2023, having bought him from Midtjylland for €11m in 2022, so the numbers under discussion sit comfortably within his history. The next trigger is simple: agreement on the formula, or a rival firming up their offer and pushing Genoa aside.
