Jesper Lindstrøm to Schalke

This move fell through. Last report: Fabrizio Romano, 3 August 2026.

This one has fallen apart. Schalke had a loan agreed with a buy option worth €5m, Lindstrøm had passed his medical on the Sunday with Napoli's blessing, and personal terms had been signed off days earlier. Then the German club simply walked away. Schalke pulled their offer entirely rather than let the deal drift, and the move is now dead rather than paused. The strongest voice here is Fabrizio Romano, who tracked the deal from advanced talks through medical and agreement, then broke the stand-by news himself. Dirk große Schlarmann, a well sourced Schalke reporter, confirmed the collapse in blunt terms, calling it a final line drawn under the whole thing. Gianluigi Longari had called it done with a loan and buy option structure just a day before it stalled. Three credible voices tracked the same rise and fall, so the sourcing on both the agreement and the collapse is solid. Given Schalke have withdrawn their offer outright, this now sits as a long shot rather than a live deal. For it to be revived, Schalke would need a change of heart, likely driven by financial reassurance or a re-worked structure, and Napoli would need to keep Lindstrøm available rather than move him elsewhere. Nothing in the reporting suggests that conversation has restarted. Schalke have paid similar money before, taking a defender from Nuremberg for €5m in 2016 and one from Bochum for €3m in 2013, so a fee in this range was never the issue. Lindstrøm himself arrived at Napoli from Frankfurt for €30m, making this proposed drop a striking marker of his fallen value. Watch for any fresh contact between the
