John Kennedy to Lazio
Quiet since 15 July 2026. Last report: Gianluca Di Marzio. Probability when it went quiet: 7%.
Lazio have made their first move for Fluminense attacker John Kennedy, 24, submitting an opening bid of €7m for the Brazilian forward. Fluminense are holding firm at €12m, leaving a meaningful gap between the clubs. The deal is at the earliest possible stage: initial contacts only, no agreement, and no indication yet that either side is ready to shift significantly. Both reports come from Gianluca Di Marzio, one of Italian football's most reliable transfer journalists, who broke the interest and the opening bid on the same day. There is no corroboration from a second source as yet, so this remains a single-voice story, albeit a credible one. This is a long shot right now. Lazio's €7m bid sits at Fluminense's estimated market value, yet the Brazilian club are demanding €12m, a premium of roughly five million euros more than Lazio have offered. Bridging that gap would require one or both clubs to move substantially, and there is no sign of that happening yet. A deal can happen, but it needs a significant shift from Lazio, a significant drop from Fluminense, or both. The fee range here sits comfortably within Lazio's recent transfer habits. The club paid €9m to sign a player from Salernitana in 2024, €9m from Hellas Verona in 2023, and €8m from SPAL in 2020. A deal at the lower end of Fluminense's valuation would be entirely in keeping with how Lazio have operated. The number to watch is a revised Lazio bid, or any signal from Fluminense that the asking price is negotiable. If a second credible source picks up the story, that would also sharpen the picture considerably.
