Joshua Zirkzee to Fiorentina

This move fell through. Last report: Laurie Whitwell, 31 August 2026.

Joshua Zirkzee's move to Fiorentina is dead. The Italian club had a loan plus buy option package agreed in principle, worth a €5m loan fee with United covering salary and a €30m buy option attached, but the player turned it down. Fiorentina have already moved on, turning their attention to Beto instead. Juventus, meanwhile, have stepped in and approached United about Zirkzee directly, giving the story a fresh direction entirely. The collapse is confirmed by strong voices. Fabrizio Romano broke the rejection and the Juventus approach, and Simon Stone corroborated that the loan is off and Fiorentina are now looking elsewhere. Laurie Whitwell adds that talks over the player's page are ongoing, hinting at more twists to come. Between Romano, Stone and Whitwell this is a well sourced update, not a single stray report. As things stand, Fiorentina have all but disappeared from the running. Zirkzee said no once already, and with Fiorentina's interest reduced to a sliver and their scouting attention elsewhere, a fresh approach from them now looks like a long shot. For this to happen at all, Fiorentina would need to return with improved terms and convince a player who has already rejected them once, while Juventus stay firmly in the picture as the more live threat. Fiorentina do have recent history spending in this range, having paid €7m for Union Berlin's man in 2025 and €6m for a player from Partizan back in 2017, so a fee near €5m to €6m would sit comfortably with their usual business. The gap here was never really about money, though. It was about the player saying no. Watch for
