Jules Koundé to FC Bayern

Quiet since 14 July 2026. Last report: Florian Plettenberg. Probability when it went quiet: 9%.

Bayern Munich are the club floating around Jules Koundé right now, and the operative word is floating. The France defender is under contract at Barcelona until June 2030, so this is not a player pushing for the exit. It reads instead as early interest from Munich, framed as conditional rather than concrete. No bid has been lodged, and no agreement exists. For now it sits firmly in the exploratory column, with a fee somewhere between €57m and €81m being floated as the ballpark. The sourcing here is thin. This comes from Christian Falk, a well-regarded voice on Bayern matters, whose word carries genuine weight. But it rests on a single link, and Falk himself hedges it, reporting that Bayern could act only under one condition. One credible reporter with a conditional line is not the same as a story stood up across several desks. Treat this as a long shot. Koundé is 27, valued around €61m, and locked into a deal that runs another four years, which hands Barcelona all the leverage. For this to move, Bayern would need to meet a stiff asking price and Barcelona would need a reason to sell a first-choice defender they do not have to part with. Neither is close to true today. Bayern have paid these sums before. They spent €80m on Atlético in 2019 and €71m on a Liverpool signing, so the money being discussed is in keeping with how they operate. Koundé himself cost Barcelona €51m from Sevilla. Watch for a firm opening bid, or a second reliable source echoing the interest. Until either lands, this stays a whisper.
