Kévin Danois to Crystal Palace

Quiet since 20 August 2026. Last report: Marc Mechenoua. Probability when it went quiet: 14%.

Crystal Palace have made a concrete approach for Kévin Danois, the 22 year old Auxerre midfielder, with a fee discussed in the €29m to €39m range. The problem for Palace is straightforward: Auxerre have just made Danois their captain for the coming season and have shown no appetite to sell. That is a significant signal from a selling club, and it sits awkwardly against a bid reported at €29m. The story was broken by Fabrizio Romano, whose credibility on Premier League moves is about as high as it gets, and corroborated within the same day by Marc Mechenoua, a reliable voice on French football who explicitly credited Romano's reporting. Two respected sources agreeing on the shape of the approach gives this real weight, even if neither has yet reported a change in Auxerre's stance. This one leans towards a long shot for now. Palace have shown genuine intent with a bid in the high twenties, but Danois carries a market value of around €20m, and Auxerre naming him captain looks like a deliberate signal that he is not for sale this summer. For the move to happen, Auxerre's resolve would need to soften, likely under a substantially improved offer well above the current €29m mark. Palace's recent business gives context for what they are prepared to spend: they paid €30m for a player from Villarreal, €30m for one from Arsenal, and €23m each for signings from Chelsea and Toulouse in 2025. A fee near €29m for Danois would sit comfortably inside that pattern, even if Auxerre's resistance is the bigger obstacle right now. Watch for any shift in Auxerre's public stance, a improved bid fr
