Livano Comenencia to Brest
This move fell through. Last report: Sacha Tavolieri, 1 September 2026.
Brest have missed out on Livano Comenencia, and the move is off. Reporting says accords between all the parties had been reached, so the framework of a deal existed: the 22-year-old right-back was set to leave Zürich for Ligue 1. The problem was registration. Brest could not sign him because they needed to sell a player first, and that sale did not happen in time. So a deal that was agreed in principle fell over on the club's own squad admin rather than on the player or the fee. The news comes from Sacha Tavolieri, a well-regarded operator on Belgian and French business, who carries solid credibility. This is a single-source report for now, though a detailed one that lays out exactly why the transfer collapsed rather than simply flagging interest. Nothing yet has corroborated or contradicted it. This one is a long shot to be revived. The pieces were in place, which is the encouraging part, but Brest could not register Comenencia without first offloading someone, and that outgoing sale never landed. For the move to come back to life, Brest would need to free up a registration slot and both sides would need to reopen terms that have already been shelved. As things stand, it is against the odds. Comenencia is under contract at Zürich until June 2029 and valued at around €1m, so Brest were not chasing a headline fee. Their recent recruitment has run higher: Saint-Étienne to Brest and Huddersfield to Brest, both €5m in 2020, plus Lyon to Brest at €5m. Watch whether Brest complete an outgoing sale that frees a slot. Without that, this stays dead.
