Lucas Beltrán to River

Quiet since 2 July 2026. Last report: German Garcia Grova. Probability when it went quiet: 96%.

Lucas Beltrán's return to River Plate is done. Fiorentina have officially announced a loan move for the 25-year-old Argentine attacker, structured as a season-long loan for a reported €500,000 fee with an obligation to buy 50% of his registration for €6.7 million once triggered. Beltrán has already joined River's pre-season camp in Alicante, and his contract, should the purchase clause activate, will run until December 2030. The story was driven primarily by Cesar Luis Merlo, who moved from breaking the club-level agreement a fortnight ago through to confirming Beltrán's personal sign-off and finally reporting the official announcement. Matteo Moretto and Gianluca Di Marzio both corroborated the opening stages, lending solid early credibility before Merlo carried the story to its conclusion. The sourcing chain is coherent and consistent throughout. This is all but done, the player is in pre-season training, the clubs have published confirmation, and the only remaining formality is the eventual activation of the purchase clause. There is nothing meaningful left to fall apart. River's recruitment approach here is consistent with recent form. They brought in players from Real Betis, Sevilla and Inter, each for around £4 million. The total potential outlay on Beltrán, the loan fee plus the obligation, sits above those benchmarks, though Fiorentina's own £5 million sale of a player to Hellas Verona shows the Italian club are prepared to move at comparable valuations when a deal suits them. The one thread left to follow is the formal activation of the €6.7 million purchase clause
