Luiz Henrique to Flamengo

This move fell through. Last report: Vene Casagrande, 7 August 2026.

The move looks all but dead. Reports of Flamengo pushing to sign Luiz Henrique from Zenit have run into a firm denial, with the Brazilian club said never to have been close to the 25 year old. The talk centred on a deal worth €30m plus a bonus, and the player himself was described as having agreed personal terms that would have made him the top earner in the squad. Yet the latest word insists no official proposal was ever put on paper. As things stand, there is interest and nothing more. The two accounts pull in opposite directions. Cahê Mota, a reliable voice, reported on 5 August that the clubs were heading towards an agreement and that the player had given his approval. Two days later Vene Casagrande, also credible, flatly contradicted that, saying Flamengo were never near a deal and had not tabled a formal bid. So you have two well regarded sources at odds, with the most recent one dousing the flames. This is a longshot. For it to revive, Flamengo would need to actually commit an offer to paper, close the gap towards Zenit's asking range of €30m to €40m, and firm up the salary the player has reportedly already accepted. Right now the newest reporting says none of that groundwork exists, which is what holds it back. Flamengo have spent big before. They paid €42m in the West Ham deal and €22m in the Atlético deal, so a fee around €30m sits well within their recent habits. The money is not the obstacle here; the willingness to commit is. Watch for one thing: an official proposal actually being lodged with Zenit. Until a bid lands, this stays talk.
