Luiz Henrique to Roma

This move fell through. Last report: Fabrizio Romano, 31 August 2026.

Roma's move for Luiz Henrique has fallen apart. A verbal agreement had been in place since Sunday evening, built around a loan worth €5m with a buy option set at €30m, but Fabrizio Romano now reports that Roma are not pushing the deal forward and have turned their attention to other targets, including Jamie Leweling. Zenit's asking price had been met in structure, yet the club's focus has clearly shifted elsewhere as the window nears its end. The reporting here is about as solid as it gets. Fabrizio Romano, working at the top of his trade, broke the news that talks have stalled. Gianluca Di Marzio, equally trusted, had charted the deal's rise over the previous two days, right down to the loan and buy-option figures. Angelo Mangiante added a third credible voice describing Roma closing in on Zenit's terms. Three strong sources agree on the shape of the collapse, even if the reason behind Roma's change of heart is not fully spelled out. Given Roma have moved on to other names, this now looks like a long shot rather than a live deal. For it to be revived, Roma would need to abandon their new priorities and re-engage with Zenit on the same €5m loan and €30m option structure. Nothing in the reporting suggests that is imminent. Botafogo remain the more plausible next home for the player. Roma have paid similar money before for wide forwards, including €9m for a player from FC Twente in 2025 and €7m for one from Lille in 2022. A €5m loan fits that recent pattern in scale, but the sudden change of priority makes the comparison academic for now. Watch for whether Roma reopen talks w
