Lyndon Dykes to Hibernian
Quiet since 6 August 2026. Last report: Fabrizio Romano. Probability when it went quiet: 14%.
Lyndon Dykes is out of contract at Charlton Athletic and back on the market, and the two clubs most often linked with him are pulling in different directions. Hibernian made a fresh enquiry back in July, revisiting interest from a year ago when the striker nearly joined them. But the most recent word, from early August, points elsewhere entirely: Fabrizio Romano reports Dykes has agreed to join Millwall among several proposals on the table. That leaves Hibernian's interest looking live but no longer the front-runner. Romano's report carries serious weight and is the freshest information here, so it has to take precedence. Graeme Bailey's story on Hibernian's enquiry is credible too and well sourced through TEAMtalk, but it is now over a fortnight old and has not been followed up or contradicted directly. Two separate voices, then, rather than one confirming the other. Given Dykes is a free agent with no fee to negotiate, the practical hurdles are low. What matters is which club he actually wants and which offer suits him best. Right now the balance tips toward Millwall rather than Hibernian, though nothing is signed and the Scottish move cannot be ruled out. Call it a genuine possibility rather than a strong favourite. Dykes has moved for modest fees throughout his career, including a €1m switch from QPR to Birmingham and a free transfer from Birmingham to Charlton. Hibernian themselves have paid around €1m apiece for St. Mirren's and FC Luzern's players in the past, so a low-cost free agent deal would sit comfortably within their usual business.
