Marc Oliver Kempf to Borussia Dortmund

Quiet since 25 June 2026. Last report: Skysport. Probability when it went quiet: 10%.

Borussia Dortmund are the club being linked with Marc-Oliver Kempf, the 31-year-old Germany defender currently at Como. The talk points to a fairly modest deal, with a fee circling somewhere between £1.3m and £1.8m, though one estimate has put the price nearer £3.6m. Kempf is under contract at Como until June 2027, so this is very much an early-stage rumour rather than a negotiation in motion. For now it is interest, nothing firmer. The link comes from Skysport, a reliable and well-regarded source, who framed it as a possible transfer from Como to Dortmund. That is a solid single report, but it stands alone. There is no corroboration from a second voice yet, which keeps this squarely in rumour territory rather than something two independent reporters are pushing. As things stand this is a long shot. For it to gain any real traction, Dortmund would need to turn passing interest into a concrete approach, and Como would have to be willing to sell a defender they only tied down until 2027. With a modest fee on the table and just one outlet reporting it, there is little momentum behind the move right now. Kempf knows this kind of business well. He joined Como from Hertha BSC for around £2m in 2024, and earlier moved from Frankfurt to Freiburg for roughly £1m in 2014. Como themselves have sold at these levels lately, sending a player to Frosinone for about £1m in 2026. The money being discussed sits comfortably in that bracket. The first real signal would be a formal Dortmund enquiry, or a second reliable source backing Skysport's report. Until then, this stays a whisper.
