Marcelo Torres to Venezia

Quiet since 6 July 2026. Last report: Rudy Galetti (Substack). Probability when it went quiet: 10%.

Newly promoted Venezia are hunting a striker, and Marcelo Torres sits on their shortlist. The 28-year-old Argentine attacker scored 16 goals this season and reached 100 career goals in 200 official games, the sort of return that gets a Serie A club looking. For now this is genuine interest and no more: Venezia are weighing several names, Torres among them, with nothing agreed. His contract runs until the end of December 2026, which gives his current side room to hold firm. The strongest voice here is Rudy Galetti, who has pushed the story twice, tagging his 4 July item as an exclusive. Nicolo Schira, relayed through a TransferFeed aggregation, adds that talks have been open. Both sit in the middle of the credibility range rather than at the top, and neither is a benchmark name. So the sourcing is real but thin, built on interest rather than a bid. This is a long shot as things stand. For it to move, Venezia would need to settle on Torres ahead of the other forwards they are considering, then open concrete talks and agree terms. Right now there is no fee on the table and no sign one side is close to the other. Interest is cheap; an accepted offer is what counts. Venezia have shopped in this bracket before. They paid Kansas City €6m in 2021, took Juventus's man for €4m in 2025 and signed from Slavia Praha for €4m the same year. A deal for Torres would fit that modest spending pattern. Watch for the first actual bid, or for Venezia to publicly narrow their shortlist to one name.
