Mariano Gómez to Independiente

Quiet since 25 July 2026. Last report: German Garcia Grova. Probability when it went quiet: 12%.

Independiente have made a formal offer for Mariano Gómez, the 27-year-old Argentine centre-back currently at Ferencvárosi. The defender, who stands 1.94 metres, is being courted by the Liga Profesional side, and the ball now sits with his current club. Ferencvárosi are studying the proposal, and a reply is expected in the short term. For now this is an opening move rather than an agreement, with no fee reported and no sign yet of where the two clubs value the player. The story rests on a single voice. German Garcia Grova, working alongside a colleague, reported the formal offer, and his standing sits in the mid-to-lower range on our credibility scale. That matters: one report, no corroboration from a benchmark name, and no confirmation from either club. Treat it as a genuine but thin link until a second reliable source picks it up. This is a long shot as things stand. For it to move forward, Ferencvárosi need to accept the offer in principle, the clubs need to agree a fee, and Gómez himself has to want the return to Argentine football. With only one report on file and no numbers attached, there is a lot still to fall into place. The money would be in keeping with how Independiente do business. They paid €5m to sign a player from Huachipato in 2024, €3m from River Plate back in 2019, and €3m from Huracán in 2025. A deal in that region would look entirely normal for the club. The next trigger is Ferencvárosi's response. If they accept the offer and open talks on a fee, this becomes real. A firm rejection ends it.
