Mattia Fortin to Palermo
Quiet since 18 July 2026. Last report: Gianluca Di Marzio. Probability when it went quiet: 88%.
Palermo have landed Mattia Fortin from Lens, and the deal is effectively over the line. The 23-year-old Italy goalkeeper is heading to the Coppa Italia side after the two clubs settled terms, with a fee sitting somewhere in the €2m to €3m range. Fortin, whose market value is around €2m, is tied down until June 2030, so this is a long-term goalkeeping bet rather than a quick fix. The move reads as a homecoming of sorts for a keeper who left Italian football only recently. The story sits with Gianluca Di Marzio, a genuinely reliable voice on Italian transfer business. On 16 July he reported an agreement between Lens and Palermo. Two days later, on 18 July, he called the arrival official. When the same trusted reporter confirms first the deal and then its completion, the sourcing is about as solid as it gets. This one is all but done. The clubs agree, the player is committed to a five-year contract, and the only fee ever floated is Di Marzio's €2m figure. There is no rival club muddying the water and no valuation gap left to close. Short of a last-minute medical snag, expect it to be confirmed. The money fits Palermo's pattern neatly. They paid €2m for Häcken's man and €2m again to Ascoli, while going as high as €4m for Corinthians. Fortin's own path is telling too: Padova to Lens for €1m in 2025, and now on again. Watch for the formal club announcement and the medical to be signed off, the final steps before it is rubber-stamped.
