Mert Kömür to Hull City

Quiet since 11 August 2026. Last report: Florian Plettenberg. Probability when it went quiet: 14%.

Hull City want Mert Kömür and have made their intentions plain, but Augsburg keep saying no. Four bids have now been rejected, the latest worth €12m including add-ons, and the German club are holding out for more money. What makes this one interesting is that Kömür himself has already agreed personal terms with Hull, so the hold-up is entirely between the two clubs over the fee, not the player's willingness to move. Florian Plettenberg has driven this story from the start, breaking the original interest in July and each bid since, and his figures have been corroborated by Kerry Hau independently reporting the same €8m and €9m rejected offers. Two well-regarded voices telling the same story, with matching numbers, gives this a firmer footing than most transfer rumours at this stage. Augsburg's stance has hardened rather than softened with each rejected bid, and they've made clear they're happy to keep a player of Kömür's quality unless the fee improves. That points to a deal that is against the odds for now. It is not dead: personal terms are done and Hull keep coming back with more money, but Augsburg's resistance is the real barrier here. Hull have paid significant fees before, including €23m for a player from Olympiacos and €9m for one from Stade Rennais, so a move in the €12m to €19m range for Kömür would sit comfortably within what they've spent previously. Augsburg, for context, sold a player to Stuttgart for €23m, suggesting they know how to hold firm for their asking price. Watch for a fifth Hull bid, likely to need to clear €15m or more, and for any sign Augsburg ar
