Mykhaylo Mudryk to Leeds United

Mudryk's proposed switch from Chelsea to Leeds United has collapsed. Leeds put in a loan offer, then a second bid, and both were formally rejected. Chelsea have ended talks and, as of late August, no longer consider Leeds a viable destination. The wrinkle is the player himself: the 25-year-old's preference is to stay in England, and he remains open to Elland Road even after the door was shut. A Strasbourg loan sits among Chelsea's several alternatives, with multiple clubs across Europe and the Premier League circling. The discussed fee ran between €24m and €34m. The reporting leans almost entirely on Ben Jacobs, a well-regarded voice who broke the rejection and has tracked every twist since. Nizaar Kinsella, also reliable, independently confirmed that Chelsea ended talks and that no second bid landed cleanly. So the sourcing is strong and consistent, and it all points the same way: this one broke down. As things stand, a revival is a long shot. Jacobs noted on 29 August that Leeds haven't ruled out a fresh offer, but he was blunt about the terms: Leeds would need to improve the package and promise significant minutes to tempt Chelsea back to the table. With the player keen but the clubs at an impasse, the chance is slim and everything hinges on Leeds moving first. History frames the money oddly. Chelsea paid Shakhtar €70m for Mudryk, so a €24m to €34m exit marks a heavy loss. When Chelsea sold to Man City in 2023, the fee was €29m, right inside this range. Watch for a third, improved Leeds bid. Without one, the interest elsewhere decides his summer.
