Nehuén Paz to Banfield

Quiet since 31 July 2026. Last report: German Garcia Grova. Probability when it went quiet: 14%.

Nehuén Paz looks set to leave Huracán for Banfield, with the move described as well advanced rather than finished. The 33 year old defender would need to rescind his contract at Huracán before signing with Banfield until the end of 2027. The hold up is not personal terms but paperwork: Banfield still need to lift certain inhibiciones, the legal restrictions that can block a club from registering new signings, before anything can be completed. Two credible voices are carrying this one. Cesar Luis Merlo, rated highly for reliability, reported on 29 July that Banfield had advanced in the signing and were working to clear the inhibiciones. Two days later German Garcia Grova, also a trusted name in Argentine football reporting, said Paz would become a Banfield player and was finalising his Huracán exit. That is two separate, well regarded sources within days of each other, which counts as solid corroboration rather than a single stray tip. The qualitative read here is a longshot for now, not because either party has cooled but because a specific administrative barrier sits in the way. Everything else, the player's willingness, the contract length, the destination, appears settled. Until Banfield actually clear those inhibiciones, this stays a deal in waiting rather than a done one. Banfield have shopped in this bracket before. They paid €2m for a player from Necaxa in 2023, €1m for one from Talleres the same year, and a further €1m each for signings from Atlanta and Querétaro FC. Paz would fit that pattern of modest, targeted spending. Huracán, for context, once sold to Udinese
