Nicolás Tagliafico to Juventus

Quiet since 1 September 2026. Last report: Fabrizio Romano. Probability when it went quiet: 21%.

Juventus have agreed personal terms with Nicolás Tagliafico, the 34-year-old Argentina left back, but the move has hit a genuine snag. The transfer only goes through if Juan Cabal leaves the club first, and now Atlético Madrid have stepped in to try to hijack the deal entirely. What looked like a tidy deadline day piece of business has turned into a contest, with the fee under discussion sitting at just €2m against his market value of around €4m. The reporting here is about as strong as it gets on a deadline day story. Fabrizio Romano, rated among the most reliable voices in the game, has posted four separate updates tracking the deal's evolution, from initial contact through to personal terms and now the Atlético interest. Romeo Agresti has corroborated the Cabal dependency independently, and Cesar Luis Merlo flagged Juventus's interest a day earlier. Two well-regarded reporters converging on the same conditional structure gives this real weight, even before the hijack twist. The personal terms are done, which usually points to a deal that gets over the line. But this one is stacked with conditions outside Juventus's control. Cabal has to exit, Atalanta need to complete their end of that separate deal, and now Atlético are actively working to poach Tagliafico before any of that resolves. Call it a long shot for now, hanging on dominoes falling in the right order. Tagliafico's career has been built on shrewd, modest fees. Independiente sold him to Ajax for €4m in 2018, and Ajax later moved him on to Lyon for the same €4m. A €2m deal at 34 sits comfortably within that patter
