Niklas Dorsch to Toronto FC

Quiet since 22 July 2026. Last report: Florian Plettenberg. Probability when it went quiet: 97%.

Toronto FC have agreed a deal to sign Niklas Dorsch from Heidenheim, and the move is all but done. The 28-year-old Germany midfielder is set to leave a club he only signed for from KAA Gent, with the two sides now exchanging documents. The agreed package runs to around €4m including add-ons, with a five-year contract waiting for Dorsch in Canada. He is under contract at Heidenheim until June 2028, so this is Toronto paying to move early rather than waiting. The story carries real weight. Fabrizio Romano called it an exclusive with a firm "here we go", and Tom Bogert, a well-sourced voice on this beat, corroborated it the same day while crediting Romano with breaking it first. Two credible reporters landing on the same terms on the same date is about as clean as sourcing gets. This is very likely. The clubs have agreed a fee, a five-year contract is set, and paperwork is being swapped, which is usually the final step before an announcement. What holds it up is only the routine: documents signed off, a medical passed. Nothing in the reporting points to a snag on money or terms. The numbers sit comfortably with Dorsch's own record. He moved from Augsburg to Heidenheim for €4m, and on from Heidenheim to KAA Gent for €4m, so a fee around €4m is squarely in keeping with what he has cost before. What to watch next is the confirmation itself: signed documents, a booked medical, and the official announcement from Toronto.
