Richie Sagrado to Genoa

Earlier read, written at an earlier stage of this story: Genoa have moved for Richie Sagrado, the 22-year-old Belgian defender, and the framework is a loan with an option to buy from Venezia. The latest word is firm: Sagrado is set to join Genoa on those terms, having already opened the door to a switch within Serie A. Venezia hold his rights until June 2028, so any permanent element down the line would run through that contract. For now the shape is clear, a temporary deal with a route to something longer. This one rests almost entirely on Sacha Tavolieri, who carries solid credibility. He first flagged Genoa's concrete interest and ongoing talks with Venezia, then followed up the same evening with a tick confirming Sagrado would make the move on a loan with option. That is one well-regarded voice reporting twice in quick succession rather than a wide chorus, so the sourcing is credible but narrow. The chance reads as strong. A loan is the simplest kind of deal to close, the fee friction that stalls permanent transfers largely removed, and the player is willing. What still has to land is a full agreement between the clubs on the option terms. Nothing here suggests resistance, but until it is signed off it is short of done. Genoa have shopped at this level before, bringing in players from Trabzonspor for €3m in 2021 and Aalborg BK for €3m. Sagrado himself cost Venezia €2m from OH Leuven in 2024, so the numbers sit comfortably in keeping. Next, watch for the clubs to settle the option, then a medical to be booked.
