Rubén Vargas to Olympiacos
Quiet since 27 August 2026. Last report: Matteo Moretto. Probability when it went quiet: 14%.
Olympiacos and Sevilla remain in talks over Rubén Vargas, but the two clubs have not settled on a price. The Swiss winger, 28 and under contract at Sevilla until June 2029, is attracting Greek interest, with the discussed fee sitting somewhere between €13m and €18m against a market value nearer €15m. As of late August, there is contact but no economic agreement, which tells you the clubs are still some way from a deal rather than close to signing off on one. The reporting here comes from a single well-regarded voice. Matteo Moretto, whose credibility sits at 84, has carried both updates, first flagging contact between the clubs on 25 August, then confirming two days later that no financial agreement exists yet. That is a consistent, believable source, but it is only one source, and there is no second outlet corroborating the numbers or the pace of talks. Call this a long shot for now. Olympiacos and Sevilla need to close a fee gap that Moretto's own reporting shows is still open, and until that number is settled there is no deal to write up. It could still happen, but the lack of any agreement after contact was confirmed two days earlier suggests this is stuck rather than accelerating. Olympiacos have paid similar money before, bringing in Nott'm Forest's man for €9m in 2026 and a Como signing for €8m, so a fee near €13m-€18m for Vargas would sit above their recent spending pattern. Vargas himself arrived at Sevilla for just €3m from Augsburg in 2025, having moved to Augsburg from Luzern for €4m back in 2019, making this potential fee a significant step up in his valuation.
