Samú Costa to RB Leipzig
Quiet since 26 June 2026. Last report: Fabrizio Romano. Probability when it went quiet: 7%.
RB Leipzig have identified Samú Costa as a potential midfield target this summer, with head coach Martin Demichelis understood to have flagged the 25-year-old Portuguese international as an option. Leipzig have gone as far as lodging a bid of £11.7m for the Mallorca man, whose contract runs until June 2028. That opening offer sits below Mallorca's market valuation of around £13m, and no fee agreement has been reached. Personal terms have not been discussed. The story was broken exclusively by Fabrizio Romano on 26 June, who reported Costa as one of several names on Demichelis's list. Romano is a reliable source with a strong track record on Bundesliga and La Liga business, but this remains a single-source link at present, with no corroboration from German or Spanish outlets. At this stage the chance of this move completing is a genuine long shot. Leipzig have registered interest and tabled a bid, but the gap between offer and valuation has not closed, and Mallorca hold a contract until 2028, giving them no particular pressure to sell cheaply. Crucially, Al Nassr are also in the picture for Costa and represent a considerably stronger pull on current evidence. Leipzig would need to raise their bid and see off that Saudi competition before any deal can progress. Costa's previous transfers, from UD Almería to RCD Mallorca for £3m in 2023 and from Braga to Almería for £4m in 2021, show how rapidly his valuation has moved. A fee in the £11.7m to £16.3m corridor would represent a significant step up from those earlier deals, though it is broadly consistent with his development cur
