Saúl Salcedo to Libertad
Quiet since 12 June 2026. Last report: Diario Ole. Probability when it went quiet: 8%.
Saúl Salcedo's loan move from Newell's Old Boys to Libertad looked all but done until a car accident intervened while he was travelling to Paraguay to finalise the deal. Both Diario Ole and TyC Sports report the move was at an advanced stage, signed in spirit if not yet on paper, when the accident happened. The paperwork was not completed, and the transfer now sits in limbo rather than confirmed. The strongest voice here is German Garcia Grova, who on 10 June stated flatly that Salcedo would play for Libertad on a 12 month loan from Newell's, using language that suggested the deal was effectively settled even before any formal announcement. TyC Sports and Diario Ole then corroborated the substance of that report two days later, both framing it as a transfer in process but interrupted, not abandoned. That gives two respected national outlets alongside a well sourced individual reporter, which is a solid base, though nobody has yet reported fresh movement since the accident. The chance of this completing still looks strong. The €1m fee was reportedly agreed, the player was already travelling to put the move into effect, and nothing in the reporting suggests either club has cooled on the idea. What holds it back now is not football business but the accident itself: until there is clarity on Salcedo's condition, no medical can happen and no signature can follow. Libertad have paid this kind of fee before, bringing in Independiente's man for €1m in 2021, so a €1m loan fee for Salcedo sits comfortably within their usual business. Salcedo himself has moved for figures between €1m
