Thiago Almada to Al Ahli
Quiet since 24 June 2026. Last report: MARCA. Probability when it went quiet: 6%.
Al Ahli have registered early interest in Thiago Almada, but that is as far as it goes. The Saudi Pro League side are reported to hold around £30m to put to Atlético de Madrid for the 25-year-old Argentine, with figures in the £23.7m to £32m range floated. No bid has actually landed. Atlético, who only signed Almada in 2025 and tied him down until June 2030, have shown no willingness to sell, and there is no sign of talks between the clubs. The reporting is thin. MARCA carry the link and give it a European headline, which lends some weight, but the detail comes chiefly from German Garcia Grova, a lower-confidence voice, who frames Al Ahli's interest and a proposed three-season deal for the player. One credible outlet and one mid-tier source is not much of a foundation. This is a long shot. For it to move, Al Ahli would need to turn their reported funds into an actual bid, and Atlético would need to reverse their stance on a player they contracted through 2030. Neither has happened. The long deal is the biggest brake, and the seller's silence tells its own story. Almada's own history frames the money well. His path ran Vélez Sarsfield to Atlanta for £12m in 2022, Atlanta to Botafogo for £21m in 2024, then Botafogo to Atlético for £18m in 2025. A fee near £30m would sit comfortably above every one of those. Watch for a first concrete bid from Al Ahli, and any hint that Atlético are prepared to listen. Until then, this stays talk.
