Tijjani Reijnders to Nottingham Forest
Quiet since 13 August 2026. Last report: Fabrizio Romano. Probability when it went quiet: 1%.
Nottingham Forest are weighing a move for Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, with reports emerging that the East Midlands club have an offer close to ready. The 28-year-old Dutchman is contracted at City until the summer of 2030, which makes this a genuinely ambitious pursuit from a side that only recently re-established themselves in the top flight. The story so far rests on a single link. Italian reporter Daniele Longo, citing the Daily Mail's Simon Jones, reported on 4 August 2026 that Forest have a bid prepared in the region of €65m. Longo carries solid credibility and Jones is a recognised Premier League source, so the claim has some grounding, but it has not yet been corroborated independently. One voice, however well-placed, is still one voice. On current evidence this is a long shot. Reijnders sits in Manchester City's squad with four years left on his contract and a market value of around €51m, meaning any serious offer would need to land at the upper end of the €65m to €87m range being discussed to even open a conversation. Forest are ambitious but asking them to break that kind of figure for a player the selling club have no obvious pressure to move represents a high bar. Nothing in the public reporting suggests City are actively listening. The clearest next signal to watch is whether Forest formalise and submit that bid, and how City respond. A formal rejection would effectively close this down. Any sign that City are willing to engage, or that a competing club enters the picture and forces the issue, would change the picture considerably.
