Tomás Belmonte to Atletico Mineiro

Quiet since 25 July 2026. Last report: German Garcia Grova. Probability when it went quiet: 8%.

Atletico Mineiro have opened conversations with Boca Juniors over Tomás Belmonte, the 28-year-old Argentine midfielder nicknamed "Toto". The Brazilian side, managed by Eduardo Domínguez, are the ones showing the interest, though this is early groundwork rather than a formal bid. Belmonte is under contract at Boca until the end of 2028, which hands the Argentine club a strong hand. The fee under discussion sits around €3m to €4m, in line with his current market value of roughly €3m. So far the story rests on a single source: German Garcia Grova, who carries solid credibility and reported on 25 July 2026 that Mineiro had begun talks. It is one reliable voice rather than a chorus. Nobody else has corroborated it yet, so treat this as a genuine but thin link until a second reporter picks it up. This is a longshot as things stand. Opening conversations is a long way from an agreed deal, and Belmonte's contract running to 2028 means Boca feel no pressure to sell cheaply. For it to move, Mineiro would need to firm up their interest into an actual offer near the top of that €3m to €4m range, and Boca would need to decide they are willing to let him go. The money fits Belmonte's history neatly. Boca paid €4m to sign him from Toluca in 2024, and his earlier move from Lanús to Toluca was also €4m. Boca have sold in this bracket before, sending players to Elche for €4m in 2021 and to Spartak Moscow for €3m. Watch for a concrete opening bid from Mineiro, or a second credible reporter confirming the talks have advanced.
