Victor Froholdt to Newcastle
Quiet since 31 July 2026. Last report: Rudy Galetti. Probability when it went quiet: 8%.
Newcastle have made Victor Froholdt one of their leading midfield options, and the interest is real rather than idle. The catch is that any concrete move is tied to Bruno Guimarães. Should the Brazilian leave, the 20-year-old becomes Newcastle's top target, and the club are relaxed about Porto asking for a fee close to the release clause. The numbers on the table sit somewhere between €62m and €88m, above his market value of around €51m. This one rests on a single voice for now. Rudy Galetti, a reasonably reliable reporter, is the source, and he frames Newcastle's readiness clearly. That is one credible link rather than a chorus, so treat it as a genuine lead that still needs corroboration from other benchmark names before it hardens. As things stand this is a long shot. Two conditions have to line up: Bruno Guimarães has to move on first, and only then does Newcastle push forward. Froholdt is contracted at Porto until June 2030, which hands the Portuguese side all the leverage on price. Newcastle not treating the release-clause request as a major obstacle is the encouraging part, but the domino ahead of it keeps the odds slim. The fee would fit Newcastle's recent pattern. They paid €78m to Real Sociedad, €75m to Stuttgart, €67m to AC Milan in 2023 and €61m to Nott'm Forest in 2025. Porto themselves bought Froholdt from Copenhagen for €20m, so a resale near the top of that band would be a healthy return. The trigger is simple: a Bruno Guimarães exit. Once that clears, expect Newcastle to open concrete talks with Porto.
