Youssef Chermiti to Olympique Lyonnais

Quiet since 6 July 2026. Last report: Santi Aouna. Probability when it went quiet: 4%.

Olympique Lyonnais have opened the door on Youssef Chermiti, the 22-year-old Portugal attacker who only joined Rangers from Everton for €8m in 2025. The French club would like to table an offer worth 14m euros plus 4m in bonuses, and contact has already been made through Benjamin Charrier. There is one problem. Rangers do not want to sell. An earlier bid of €14m has been rejected, and Chermiti is tied to Glasgow until June 2029, so Rangers hold every card. The story sits entirely with Santi Aouna, a well-regarded voice on French moves who rates around 72 out of 100. His reporting is detailed and confident, marked as exclusive, and repeated across several updates from 2 to 6 July. That said, this is a single source. No benchmark reporter has yet corroborated it, and Rangers themselves have not shown any willingness to negotiate. As things stand this is a long shot. For it to move, Lyonnais would have to push well beyond the €14m already turned away, and, more importantly, Rangers would have to change their stated position and decide they are willing to let their attacker go. Neither looks close. The reluctance to sell, not the money, is what is holding this up. Rangers have form for cashing in at this level, having sold to Ajax for €24m, to Everton for €14m in 2022 and to Lille for €12m. So the money on the table, in the €14m to €21m range, is squarely in keeping with what Rangers usually command. Watch for a fresh, higher bid and, crucially, any hint that Rangers soften their stance.
