Folarin Balogun to Everton

Folarin Balogun's move to Everton has fallen apart at the final hurdle. Monaco and Everton had reached full agreement on a fee between €40m and €47m, with Sacha Tavolieri declaring it done and the medical booked. Then everything changed: Everton's medical staff flagged fitness concerns, Monaco and the player's camp insisted he was fine, and the deal collapsed anyway after Balogun reportedly failed his medical, with knock-on moves involving Erik Lira and Jean-Mattéo Bahoya also unwinding. The reporting here is unusually strong for a deal that fell through. Fabrizio Romano and Fabrice Hawkins both stated the medical had failed, and Romano's account explicitly credits Hawkins as the original source, giving two credible voices pointing the same way. Graeme Bailey and Tavolieri had earlier reported the move as good as confirmed, showing how fast this reversed. Given the medical failure and the collapse of related deals around it, this now sits as a long shot rather than a live prospect. For it to be revived, Everton's doctors would need to be satisfied on his fitness, or the two clubs would need to renegotiate terms entirely.
