Gonçalo Inácio to AC Milan

Quiet since 30 June 2026. Last report: Daniele Longo. Probability when it went quiet: 6%.

AC Milan want a new centre back and Gonçalo Inácio sits at the top of their thinking. The 24-year-old Portugal defender is described as the number one target, with a €53m bid on the fee ledger and a discussed range stretching from €53m up to €72m. His market value is around €40m, so Milan are already prepared to pay a clear premium. The problem is at the other end: Inácio is a key player for Sporting CP, tied down until June 2030, and prising him loose will not be simple. Internal Milan talks are ongoing and a fresh meeting has been fixed. The reporting is solid rather than sensational. Fabrizio Romano, a benchmark voice, frames Inácio as one of three main options and stresses the difficulty. Daniele Longo, also well rated, backs the target status and the scheduled meeting. Two reliable sources, then, but both careful to hedge on how achievable this actually is. This is a longshot as things stand. Milan admire the player but list two other names alongside him, and Sporting have no need to sell a defender under contract for four more years. For it to move, Milan would need to firm up their interest into a formal, higher bid and Sporting would need to soften on a player they rate highly. Right now the appreciation is real but the will to complete is not. Milan have paid at this level before: PSG to Milan for €74m in 2026 and Lille to Milan for €49m in 2019 show the money is in keeping. Watch for a bid beyond the opening €53m and whether that fresh Milan meeting turns admiration into a concrete offer.
